The Impossible Return

Death creates a peculiar form of geography. There is suddenly a place one can remember perfectly but can never enter again: the world in which the person was still alive. The Impossible Return emerged from that temporal dislocation. Grief produces an instinct to move backwards, to locate the precise threshold before everything changed. Yet there is no passage back. What remains is movement itself, the repeated attempt to reach a time that has become inaccessible.
