Selected for the “Beauty” Open Call by 34 Gallery, this work starts in the mirror. Not the flattering one. The one that refuses you. I wanted beauty to feel earned. Mined from shadow. The face fractures, then returns. Not whole. Real. Gold appears where the image breaks, like a decision. A quiet insistence: I am here, even if the world misreads me. Between cracked glass your silence touches mine gold holds the distance Following the haiku, the image holds that suspended space between two presences. Close, but not merged. The fracture becomes the place where recognition happens. I use AI as a pressure field, then I edit and refine until the emotion is precise. The final image keeps a vintage softness while carrying something sharper underneath. Beauty, here, is not perfection. It is what remains visible after repair.
